UFOP professor and graduate student go on mobility to Mary Immaculate College (MIC) in Ireland

The student from the Communication Graduate Program, Júlia Faccion, and the Professor Breynner Ricardo de Oliveira, from the Open and Distance Education Center (Centro de Educação Aberta e a Distância - CEAD/UFOP), participated in an international academic mobility program at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Ireland, in the first semester of 2022. This was the first mobility activity carried out through the agreement signed between UFOP and Mary Immaculate College (MIC), under the Erasmus+ Programme. The European program supports education, training, youth, and sports and aims to strengthen academic relations among universities, promote exchanges between students, faculty members, and technical staff, and encourage international academic experience by enhancing teaching, research, and extension actions.
During her stay at MIC, from April 28 to July 31, 2022, the student participated in teaching and research activities related to modern internet communication and media, as well as networking with the academic community and cultural activities. The main objective pursued by the student was to improve her communication skills regarding interpersonal exchanges and to deepen her understanding of the media aspects which most influence aspects of life, bringing the Brazilian reality closer to the rest of the world.
The academic activities carried out by Prof. Breynner aimed to develop and strengthen research networks in the field of education in Brazil. During his stay there, meetings were held with research and work groups, cultural activities, internal seminars on distance education programs for teachers in Brazil, and on the role of the public university in building multi-level training networks. His activities lasted five days, beginning on May 16 and ending on May 20, 2022. Moreover, on May 19th, Professor Breynner participated in the 9th edition of the International Research Methods Summer School (IRMSS), in which he had the opportunity to present his research on the Implementation of the Remote Education Program in Minas Gerais.
To conclude the international academic mobility activities foreseen in the Erasmus+ project at MIC for the year 2022, DRI sent the Coordinator of International Agreements and Mobility, Anderson Antonio Gamarano, to Ireland. The coordinator's visit took place from June 27 to July 1, and its main objective was to strengthen ties with MIC by discussing new collaboration opportunities between the institutions. This allowed both parties to reflect on the partnership so far and share insights on internationalization strategies and future goals.
