Project Welcome made the BH Tour with UFOP exchange students

 

Proceeding with the 2023 Cultural Calendar, on May 27, DRI Welcome Project  assistants' team conducted the "BH Tour" with UFOP foreign students

A total of 30 international students from China, Colombia, Croatia, Guinea-Bissau, Italy, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Kenya participated in the Living Lab Biobased Brazil, GCUB-MOB, PAEC, and PEC-G programs.

This time, the students traveled to Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais capital city. The excursion schedule included outstanding and often visited city areas. The students got the chance to learn more about the history and culture of Minas Gerais administrative headquarters.

The day began with a visit to one of Minas Gerais postcard places, the famous Governor Magalhães Pinto Stadium, known as Mineirão. The students went to the Brazilian Soccer Museum (MBF) and visited the Esplanade. After that, they went to the Pampulha architectural complex. There, the exchange students visited some modernist monuments such as Casa do Baile, Mirante São Luís, and the São Francisco de Assis Church. 

They had lunch at the Belo Horizonte Central Market. There, the students got the chance to explore the local shopping, try Minas Gerais traditional cuisine, and purchase cheese, spices, and souvenirs.

Next, they went to Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square), Minas Gerais previous administrative headquarters. The students could choose whatever museums in the neighborhood they wanted to visit, including the Mines and Metal Museum (Museu das Minas e do Metal), the Memorial Minas Gerais Vale, (Memorial Minas Gerais Vale), the Government Palace (Palácio do Governo), the Cultural Center of Banco of Brazil, (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil) and the UFMG Knowledge Space (Espaço do Conhecimento da UFMG). The day finished at “Mirante das Mangabeiras,”  where students were able to photograph and watch a stunning sunset.
